MSU Fans Preparing for 2016 Triangle Classic

Posted: Updated:

This is the weekend Great Falls becomes home away from home for the Montana State football program.

The Triangle Classic starts Friday night at Four Seasons Arena. They'll be auctioning off a bunch of neat stuff, including a trip to the Kentucky Derby. This year's special guest is another big name, gridiron great Joe Theismann. Then on Saturday, there's the kids camps and scrimmage at Memorial Stadium.

The proceeds from the weekend help provide scholarships for Bobcat Athletics, and the events allow fans a chance to see their team up close and personal.

"There is a lot of change going on at Montana State University and we're excited to get the season started," Triangle Classic Emcee Jim Sargent says. "We've got a new coaching staff, a bunch of new kids coming in, we're going to have a new quarterback this year. And the fun thing is we get to see them in a pretty extensive scrimmage on Saturday morning. And, of course, the Classic is so huge, it's so much fun. It's always exciting when we get together with Bobcat fans and with a major speaker like Joe Theismann, it's exciting."

Tickets to the banquet start at $55 without dinner. It's $85 to attend and eat. If you have a larger crowd, tables are available for $800. Call Jim Walden at 799-7091 for more information.

As for Saturday's festivities, the camps start at 9am at Memorial Stadium. They cost $5 to attend, but a t-shirt and free admission to the scrimmage is included. The Triangle Classic scrimmage begins at 11am. Cost is $5.
