Carroll's Arntson Using Last Year's Experience in Spring Camp

Posted: Updated:

Last season the Carroll Saints wide receiving corps was so decimated by injury that back up QB's and defensivebacks started catching passes, and because of those injuries then true freshman Troy Arntson was forced into duty from his number three roll to the top option for most of the season

Now in spring practices that the Saints are finally healthy, Troy has had to work his way back up the depth chart. Last season Arntson led the Saints in receiving yards with 473 in ten games, but this fall he's expected to go back to a back up roll where the Saints feel they can put him in the best positions for him to succeed. And the team thinks last year's experience will really benefit him.

"Troy, he's a slimy wide receiver," said Saints senior quarterback JT Linder. "So he'll get out there, and when we go four wide he does a great job, and he'll do a good job I think backing up Kyle Griffith. It think he'll really embrace that roll."

"The thing I want to see from Troy right now is the mental part of it," said Saints head coach Mike Van Diest. "Not lining up wrong, not running routes the wrong way. That's going to help tremendously when we get all those guys on the field together at the same time. It's going to be pretty impressive."
