Hundreds of Griz Fans Attend Coaches' BBQ in Great Falls

Posted: Updated:

The Mansfield Convention Center in Great Falls was Griz fan central Tuesday night as around 800 of them attended the Grizzly Coaches Barbecue. It's an annual event put on by the Grizzly Scholarship Association and helps raise money for athletic scholarships to the University of Montana.

There was great food,  chance to mingle with head coaches like Bob Stitt, Robin Selvig and Travis Decuire, and fans could also bid on silent auction items. Earlier in the day, they played golf at Meadow Lark Country Club.

Coach Stitt, who is preparing for his second season as Montana's head football coach says he enjoys getting to mingle with fans at events like these all over the state.

"It's great to get out to everybody all over the state of Montana and get to know people, and it's great to do it this year because last year it was a whirlwind, my head was spinning and now it's calmed down a little bit and we can get to know people on each stop," Stitt says.

On Wednesday, the Spring Tour continues in Cut Bank and then on Thursday they will be in Fort Benton. They'll head to Ronan on Friday and then the Hi-Line next week, For more information go to and click on the 'GSA' tab.
