CMR Track Hoping for Better Performance at 2016 State Meet
The Double A State Track Meet begins on Friday in Missoula and the C.M. Russell boys and girls are hoping for a better showing than last year.
The Rustlers will send a total of 24 athletes to state, 10 girls and 14 boys. That includes athletes like Damien Nelson, Trevor Pepin and Trisha Carlson who all hope to place for CMR.
Last year, the Rustler boys and girls both finished in 11th place out of 14 teams and say the key to doing better this year is to perform as well as they do in practice in Great Falls this weekend in Missoula.
"We just gotta really trust in our training. Our coaches do a great job and we gotta give them props for that. They make sure we're ready at the right time of the year and we're excited to see how it goes," says senior thrower Noah Danielson.
"We need to go out and have a lot of PR's. We do our best to train every day and go out and perform to the best of our ability. Now we just gotta trust that and go out there and get PR's. If we get PR's we'll just let everything else fall into place," defending AA javelin state champ Trevor Pepin adds.
The AA/C State Meet is Friday and Saturday in Missoula while the A/B State Meet is in Bozeman.
