The Helena Brewers held their 2016 media day at Kindrick Legion Field on June 15.
Players and coaches dressed in game-day uniforms for a team photo before individual pictures. While players posed for individual shots, select team personnel spoke with the media about the upcoming season.
“Yesterday was a perfect day to use our pitchers because the guys needed to throw,” first-year manager Nestor Corredor said about the exhibition game against the Helena Senators.
Demi Orimoloye is projected to bat third after hitting .292 in Arizona last season.
“Just to keep doing what I did last year,” the second-year prospect Orimoloye said. “Keep hitting well, steal a lot of bases, play good defense and just win as a team.”
The highest expectations rest on the shoulders of 19-year-old shortstop Gilbert Lara.
“I don’t feel any pressure because I know what my role is,” Lara said through a coach translating. “My role is to make it to the big leagues. The contract I signed, I know I have to be a big leaguer.”
The Brewers open the season at home Friday, June 17 against the Great Falls Voyagers at 7:05pm.
