Carroll Softball Signs Ten, Including Five Montanans

In just the second season of Carroll College softball, the Saints far outpaced expectations, winning the Cascade Conference East Division Championship and won 24 games, 11 more than the inaugural year. The Saints look to continue the upward trajectory and Thursday head coach Aaron Jackson announced the signing of ten athletes, including five Montanans to Cascade Conference letter of intents.
"Our 2016 class is loaded with great players and even better people," Jackson said. "Each of them have great talent on the field and in the classroom and all have won championships at various levels of play. I believe that we were able to sign some of the top athletes from Montana and add to that a great group from around the west. This class will be looked to solidify our foundation and help us to continue to build on our success in our short time as a program. I could not be more excited to add these 10 wonderful young women to our program."
The class includes three pitchers, two utility players and five field players that will help the Saints as they continue to build on last season's success.  

Hannah Alcorn • 5-10 • First Base • Hickman, Calif. • Hughson HS
Alcorn brings an impressive resume both on the field and off of it. She was named to First-Team Trans Valley League softball and basketball. She was also a three-time Scholar-Athlete Award winner ad a member of the the 2015 TVL Scholar-Athlete All-League. She has a cumulative 3.65 GPA.
"Hannah comes to us from Hickman, CA where she played for the California Grapettes out of northern California," Jackson said. "Hannah is a corner infielder and a power hitter that will be a great addition to our infield. Not only can Hannah get the job done on the field but also in the classroom with a 3.65 GPA."

Anna ApRoberts • 5-6 • Utility • Portland, Ore. • Sunset HS
ApRoberts was selected as her team's MVP for softball.  She also was awarded a Leadership and Silver Slugger award at Sunset.  ApRoberts has been elected as team captain for her club team, Rip City, from 2010-2015.  She is a four-time Scholar Athlete and one-time All-League Academic softball team selection.  She carries a 3.86 GPA.
"Anna comes to us from Portland Oregon and we look for her to be a versatile player for us," Jackson said. "She has the ability to play any position on the field and is willing to do whatever she needs for the team to be successful.  Anna is also an exceptional student, carrying a 3.86 GPA and being named a four-time scholar athlete."
Brooke Brown • 5-9 • Pitcher • Phoenix, Ariz. • Sandra Day O'Conner HS
Brown helped lead her team to a division one State Championship in 2015.  During that year, she was selected to first team All-Section and All-State honorable mention.  Brown was also awarded All-State honorable mention and second team All-Section in 2014 as well.  She competes in basketball at her school where she carries a 3.4 GPA.
"Brooke is another accomplished pitcher having won the Division I Arizona State Championship in 2015," Jackson said. "Brooke is a hard-nosed pitcher that never waivers and when she asked to get the job done she is successful.  We are looking at Brooke to solidify our rotation.  Brooke also is a solid student and is looking to major in nursing."
Christine Connolly • 5-10 • Catcher/Outfield • Kalispell, Mont. • Glacier HS
Connolly is a varsity letter winner in softball, soccer, and basketball at Glacier.  She holds the school record in most putouts in a season (294).  Connolly helped the Wolfpack win the AA State Championship last year with another Saints signee, Ali Williams.  She carries a 3.97 GPA.
"Christine is another Montana signee that has had great success," Jackson said. "She was a part of the 2015 state championship team at Glacier and caught for her good friend and future Saint teammate Ali Williams.  Christine is also multi-positional player that has a huge upside to her.  Another great student athlete carrying 3.9 GPA."
Lily Larson • 5-3 • Shortstop/Catcher • Lake Stevens, Wash. • Lake Stevens HS
Larson was awarded second team All-Wesco Outfield in 2015.  She helped guide her team to back-to-back Wesco Runner-ups in 2013 and 2014.  In 2011, Larson won the Amateur Softball Association (ASA) State Championship.  She was also a part of the 2012 National Softball Association (NSA) State runner-up team.  Larson was Honor Roll from 2012-2015 and carries a 3.72 GPA.
"Lily Larsen played for the NW Batbusters out of Washington," Jackson said. "Lily is a true utility player having seen her play catcher, infield and outfield during the recruiting process.  We look for Lily to contribute at those position in the coming years at Carroll and with know that she will be successful because of her great determination.  Lily carries a 3.72 GPA and is looking to pursue a degree in the medical field."
Megan McCormick • 5-9 • 3rd Base/Catcher • Fallon, Nev. • Churchill County HS
McCormick is a two time first team All-State selection.  She was also awarded three years first team All-League.  McCormick is a three sport varsity athlete at Churchill County.  She competes in Basketball and Volleyball as well.  McCormick is a member of the National Honor Society and carries a 3.90 GPA.
"Megan McCormick is another student athlete with great family ties to Carroll College with the majority of her family having attended Carroll," Jackson said. "She is from Fallon, Nevada, and is a catcher third baseman and has tremendous pop in her bat.  Megan owns numerous hitting records at Churchill County High School where she played for four years.  With a 3.9 GPA Megan is another great student-athlete."
Kendall Mooney • 6-0 • 1st Base/3rd Base • Missoula, Mont. • Big Sky HS
Mooney was selected to first team All-State in 2015 at 3rd base.  Along with All-State, Mooney was awarded second team All-Conference during 2015.  In 2014, she was named to the second team All-State.  Mooney also plays basketball at Big Sky where she was selected to All-Conference honorable mention in 2015.  She was named a member of the 2016 Great Falls Tribune Montana Super-State Softball Team. Mooney carries a 3.82 GPA.
"Kendall Mooney joins us from a Carroll family, having many family members graduate from Carroll," Jackson said. "Kendall is a corner infielder that has great pop in her bat and is very athletic. We will look for Kendall to help us any a few different roles as we believe that she is athletic to play most positions on the field. Carrying a 3.82 GPA Kendall is also another great student athlete."
Courtney Schroeder • 5-10 • First Base/Pitcher • Great Falls, Mont. • C.M. Russell HS
Schroeder is a three-time second time All-State selection in softball.  She was also awarded second-team All-Conference and won offensive MVP in 2015.  Schroeder is a three-time varsity letter winner in basketball and softball at C.M. Russell.  She earned Academic All-State in both basketball and softball from 2013-2015.  She was named a member of the 2016 Great Falls Tribune Montana Super-State Softball Team. Schroeder carries a 3.91 GPA.
"Courtney comes to us from the storied program of CMR and is the winning pitcher in the 2016 Montana State Softball Championship," Jackson said. "We look for Courtney to help us on the mound and infield.  She can pitch and play first, so we look for her to help us in each of those positions.  Courtney also is another great student athlete carrying a 3.91 GPA."
Ali Williams • 5-11 • Pitcher • Kalispell, Mont. • Glacier HS
Williams was nominated for Gatorade Player of the Year three times.  She was awarded Offensive MVP her freshman year and Defensive MVP her sophomore and junior years by her team.  Williams helped lead the Wolfpack to an AA State Championship last year.  Along with softball, Williams is a three-time varsity letter winner in volleyball and basketball.  She holds multiple school records in softball for most career home runs (26), career runs batted in (94), career batting average (.481), wins in a season (20), and season strikeouts (272).  She was named a member of the 2016 Great Falls Tribune Montana Super-State Softball Team. Williams carries a 4.0 GPA. 
"Ali is a great pick up for us she has had one of the most storied pitching careers in Montana and we are fortunate to keep her in Montana," Jackson said. "Not only has Ali had great success in the circle she is also a great hitter and we look for her to contribute both on the mound and at the plate. As great as her accomplishments are on the field they are equally as good in the classroom carry a 4.0 GPA during her high school career."
Brooke Yarnall • 5-3 • Utility • Frenchtown, Mont. • Frenchtown HS
Yarnall was awarded first team All-State and All-Conference last year in softball.  She was selected to first team All-Conference in 2014 as well.  Yarnell also competes in soccer and basketball at Frenchtown.  She was first team All-State in soccer in 2014 and first team All-Conference this last year.  She was named a member of the 2016 Great Falls Tribune Montana Super-State Softball Team. Yarnell was earned academic All-State three straight years and carries a 3.5 GPA.
"Brooke is from Frenchtown where she was a part of four state softball championships and is a very versatile player that has great power at plate," Jackson said. "We look for Brook to help us in many ways and with her versatility she will be able to do that.  An elementary education major Brooke brings with a 3.5 GPA."
