East Team Preparing for 70th Shrine Game on Saturday in Butte
And then, there was one. One more High School All-Star football game this summer, as for the 70th time, the East will take on the West in the Annual Shrine Game on Saturday in Butte.
The East enters the contest with the overall edge in the series, winning 38 of the first 69 Shrine Games, including last years in Great Falls, 19-14. Of course, the game and the festivities serve as a huge fundraiser for the Shriner's Hospital for Children in Spokane. In fact, the last six years combined, they've raised $400 thousand!
Now, they say the best of the best will take the field on Saturday. That includes several athletes from the KFBB viewing area. We caught up with the East team practicing this week in Billings and a couple of future Western Bulldogs know this will be the last time they'll put on their high school helmet...
"The Rustler family has done a lot for me and I can't be more thankful for what they've done, but I'm definitely ready to move on to the next stage and head down to Montana Western, just happy to wear that Rustler helmet for the last time," CMR standout Noah Danielson says.
"I'm just excited for this game and to finish off the summer before I have to head down for fall camp," Havre's Nate Rismon adds.
The game kicks off at 7 on Saturday at Alumni Coliseum, home of Montana Tech football.
