Health Care workers want assault to be felony

Posted: Updated:

A health industry group is calling for action regarding assaults on health care workers. The Montana Nurses Association is asking to make those assaults a felony and they've begun a statewide campaign.

The Daily Interlake reports, the MNA's labor representative says that the statewide effort comes after a bill introduced during the 2015 legislative session failed in committee, because lawmakers didn't believe that those assaults were common. The group has been sending postcards to lawmakers with stories of nurses who have been assaulted by patients.

MNA will be meeting in butte on Friday.
