Indian Health Services is conducting a 30-day nationwide consultation with Urban Indian organizations and tribal leaders to discuss a draft policy on health care coverage.
The draft policy promotes additional health care options while supporting an increase in third party billing revenue- which means more funding for patient care. The consultation will be held from now until August 17th. A telephone session will take place Monday, July 25th for tribal and urban leaders.
In a press release, IHS Principal Deputy Director Mary Smith says, quote "By using their healthcare funds to purchase qualified health plans for their tribal members, tribes can maximize the benefits for their members."
