The 2016 Last Chance Stampede Rodeo kicked off on July 28 at the Lewis and Clark County Fairgrounds.
Helena native Timmy Sparing posted the top time in steer wrestling at 3.7 seconds.
Chase Erickson, also from Helena, scored 78 points out of 100 in bareback riding, the fourth highest total.
Cody Tew and Matt Robertson combined to rope their steer in 6.6 seconds, the second best time of the first round.
In saddle bronc riding, Joe Harper registered 75 points, the top time on day one.
Day two starts July 29 at 7:30 pm.
