Frontier Conference Football Coaches Vote Carroll 3rd, SOU Tops in Conference
Great Falls, MT - The Southern Oregon football team was picked to finish first in the annual Frontier Conference Coaches' Poll released Tuesday by the Conference. Defending Frontier champ Montana Tech was picked to finish second, while Carroll College was slated third.
The Raiders led the way with 48 points, including six first-place votes. The Orediggers were picked just behind SOU with 48 points, including one first-place vote.
The Saints tallied 38 points and received the one remaining first-place vote in the poll. Behind the Saints were Eastern Oregon (27 points), College of Idaho (25), Montana Western (20), Rocky Mountain (17) and MSU-Northern (7).
Carroll missed the NAIA Playoff for just the second time in 16 years after going 4-6 in 2015.
Coaches were not allowed to vote for their own teams. First place was worth seven points, second place worth six points, third place worth five points, fourth place worth four points, fifth place worth three points, sixth place worth two points and seventh place worth one point.
