(Univ. Great Falls Athletics) - The first member of Argo wrestling's 2017 Recruiting Class has signed with UGF, and starts the class with a lot of potential. Helena High School product and Montana State Champion Hayden Schrull will join the Argos in 2017.
"Hayden is exactly the kind of student-athlete a coach loves to have on his team. His work ethic and commit to excel in every aspect of his life is what the coaching staff is most excited about," UGF head coach Caleb Schaeffer said. "To have him sign early in the process should really help us with recruiting for the rest of the year."
Schrull, a 6-0, 185 lb. wrestling entering his senior year for the Bengals after a stellar junior year. He tied the school record for wins in a season in 2015-16 with a record of 39-2 in the 170 lb. weight class on the way to a State AA Championship. As a junior he also won the CMR Holiday Tournament, finished as runner-up at the Bozeman LeProwse Invite, and third at the Beck Rocky Mountain Classic.
As a sophomore, Schrull wrestled at 145, compiling a record of 20-9 and finishing 6th in State AA. He wrestled at 132/138 as a freshman with a record of 24-18.
