The University of Great Falls girls soccer team was back at practice Wednesday to prepare for their season opener against Northwest College.
The matchup is less than one week away. Although the Lady Argos reached the conference tournament last season, they were quickly bounced by Carroll College, 2-3.
Head coach Brian Clarke knows his team can do better and that all starts with developing a mean streak from the get-go.
"We have to start out strong. That was one of the things we needed to do coming out of the Cascade Conference. [There needs to be] a sense of urgency right off the bat to get results. [It] is important to have that sense of urgency," he said.
Clarke's players agree. Senior defensive midfielder Katie Duncan is really fired up about this season.
"We're training really hard and fixing things that needed to be fixed. [We are] just coming out with the same intensity and fight. We really want it this year," she said.
The Lady Argos open against Northwest College August 23. Their regular season starts against the University of Lethbridge August 27.
