Late field goal lifts Carroll to season opening win
Carroll College overcame a 14-point deficit to defeat Montana Tech 27-24 on a field goal as time expired on Sept. 3 at Nelson Stadium on the campus of Carroll College.
Carroll trailed by 14 with just under 10 minutes remaining in the contest. JT Linder completed an 80-yard touchdown pass to Connor Fohn. Later in the fourth, the fifth-year senior found Kyle Griffith on a 27-yard touchdown to tie the game at 24.
After Carroll stopped Montana Tech on fourth down, the Saints drove the ball down to the their 38-yard line with three seconds remaining. Colter Hamel connected on 45-yard field goal giving Carroll the win.
Carroll plays the Diggers again on Oct. 15 in Butte, Mont.
Next week, the Saints travel to Billings to take on Rocky Mountain College at 1 pm.
