Carroll and Montana Tech Prepare for Second Matchup of the Season

Posted: Updated:

Round two for Carroll and Montana tech. This Saturday, the game is in Butte, and the Diggers still have Quinn McQueary and Nolan Saraceni.
"The play of [Quinn] McQueary he compliments [Nolan] Saraceni so well," Coach Mike Van Diest said.
The duo combined for 371 yards and three touchdowns in the first matchup. So what do the Saints have left for the second meeting?
"I don't worry about the second game, it's all about the first game," Van Diest said. "I'm sure there are going to be new wrinkles on both sides of the ball."
One new twist could be defensive back Tucker Johnson covering Tech's best receiver. But Johnson said he's more worried about the running attack of the Frontier Conference's most prolific offense.
"It'll be a good challenge for all of us a DBs to face the run and pass this week," Tucker Johnson said.
Both teams enter Week 8 off a win, but because of offensive injuries the Saints are not the same team that defeated then-No. 7 Montana Tech 27-24 to open the season.
"We're not quite the same team personnel wise on offense," Van Diest said. "Defensively, we have everybody healthy."
With Carroll trailing the conference frontrunners by two games, this is a great opportunity to close the gap, right coach?
"It means we have a two game winning streak," Van Diest said.
Last season, the Diggers swept the Saints. Prior, the Saints dominated Montana Tech.
