Following a tough loss to open the season, the Whitehall boys basketball team bounced back over the weekend with back-to-back wins in the Manhattan Bank Tipoff Tournament. The Trojans topped Cutbank on Friday and raced past Deer Lodge on Saturday for the weekend sweep. In the tournament, the Trojans played well on both ends of the floor - forcing turnovers, getting out in transition, and cleaning up the glass. It is a promising start for the Trojans, whose 2015 season ended in the district semifinals. Coach Zach McLean says he's pleased with this weekend's performance, but knows his team can do better, especially early in games.
"You know, I'm happy for the way we played," said Coach McLean. "The one thing that's disappointing is the way we came out in the first quarter in those two games, been outscored. That's part on me. I need to get these guys more prepared. I'll take some of the blame, but some of them, they've got to come out ready to go for sure."
