Billings residents file for 2017 municipal election

BILLINGS, Mont. -

Billings residents already are filing for the Billings municipal election.

Here's who filed today.

Yellowstone County election staffers say two people have filed for mayor, attorney Bill Cole and architect Randy Hafer.

Judge Sheila Kolar has filed for re-election.

Dennis Ulvestad filed to represent Ward 5.

Mike Yakawich filed for re-election in Ward 1.

Michael Larson filed for the Ward 3 seat.

If you're interested in filing for a city office, the deadline is June 19th at 5:00pm.

The primary election will happen September 12th.

The general election is Tuesday, November 7th.

    Today was day three at the NILE Stock Show and Rodeo. The main event in the Montana Pavilion today was the Jr. Fed Lamb Show. Kids from ages eight to eighteen came from all across the country to show off their lambs to the judges and the Billings crowd on Saturday. The juniors competed in showmanship and market events in the Montana Pavilion after training all year.  For the kids, the event is an opportunity for them to work hard and make some money for their prized lambs. ...

    Warrior Wishes Montana partnered up with Fat Fender Freddy's in Laurel to support local veterans on Saturday afternoon.  At the "Smash & Dash" people could hit a donated car with a sledgehammer for ten dollars to benefit Montana's veterans .

    BOISE, Idaho (AP) - The judgment of an Idaho Fish and Game Commission member is being questioned after he shared photos of himself posing with a family of baboons, including young baboons, he killed while hunting in Africa.    Gov. C.L. "Butch" Otter spokesman Jon Hanian tells The Idaho Statesman in a story on Friday that the governor's office is looking into the matter involving Commissioner Blake Fischer.
