County Commissioners change fire restrictions

Cascade county commissioners put changes in place to the stage one fire restrictions on Saturday, including banning all types of fires in the county. 

It’s plain and simple, look at the grass, it is brown from being so dry, and all it takes to light a blaze is a single spark.

With the surrounding vegetation being so dry, it forced the cascade county commissioners to implement these modifications to the fire restrictions. You CANNOT have a fire of any sorts even if it is a closed burn barrel or even a metal fire pit in your back yard.

If you start a fire you could see some serious consequences.

“Ultimately if you cause the fire you could be responsible for the fire, and so you could be responsible for the cause of that fire, so people need to be aware of that” says Jane Weber.

Commissioner Weber also says you cannot use a grill at all unless it is at least three feet away from any vegetation, and on a concrete pad.  For people who have their grills on wooden decks, you need to take them off and grill on a hard non flammable surface like a driveway.

Now for you smokers out there, you can still smoke but you can only smoke in your homes, in your car with your windows rolled up, or in a parking lot with no plants nearby.

    According to the Lewis and Clark County Sheriff's Facebook page, at least one hunter has gone missing in the Lincoln area.  The Sheriff's Office is working with the Lincoln Volunteer Fire Department and Search and Rescue Crews to help locate the hunter.  We will keep you updated as more information becomes available.
