"I should have shot you two years ago"; Man faces Assault With a Weapon charge

Posted: Updated:
GREAT FALLS -

One man is now facing an Assault With a Weapon charge after allegedly pointing a gun at another man's face.

On November 24th, the Cascade County Sheriff's Office responded to a report of a threat on 18th Ave. S. The victim reported, "a guy pulled a gun on him."

Charging documents say the victim stated he went to use the phone at Scott Larson's trailer. He says when he asked to use the phone, Larson told him to get off his property and accused the victim of being a thief. Larson allegedly threatened to "blow the victim's head off" and grabbed a revolver with a black or blue barrel, then pointed it at the victim's face. The victim told officers he feared for his life because he was afraid the gun would go off by accident and shoot him.

According to the police report, Larson told officers during his interview that the victim had come to his house to ask about using the phone. Larson says he answered the door, got upset at the victim, accused him of being a thief, and told him to leave. He says the victim began to leave and reportedly admitted to uttering a comment to the effect of "I should have shot you two years ago," while referring to a prior incident where he believes the victim stole one of his boat motors. The police report says Larson told them after that he got his dog and went inside the house. Larson reportedly admitted he had a .357 revolver on the table in the house, but denies ever taking it to the door, or the revolver having any part in the altercation with the victim.

Charging documents state, upon execution of a search warrant of the residence, deputies found a blued .357 revolver with a wooden handle in the kitchen area.

Larson has prior DUI convictions in Utah and Texas. He is facing one charge of Assault With a Weapon, a Felony. The State has requested his bond be set in the amount of $10,000.
