Avalanche causes Highway 200 to close

An avalanche occurred across Highway 200 near mile marker 55.9 off of mineral hill in Helmville Friday night.

According to the Missoula Weather service, the avalanche was 15 to 20 feet deep, 55 yards wide and made it all the way across the road.

Highway 200 was closed in the area of the avalanche from 10 last night until 5:30 Saturday morning.
