GREAT FALLS - Another store is shutting its doors in the Electric City. This time it's due to the liquidation of its parent company. All Herberger stores across the nation will be closing.
A U.S. bankruptcy judge is expected to decide today on the acquisition of the Bon-Ton stores chain.
The Bon-Ton Stores Inc. was operating 260 stores in 24 states, largely in the Northeast and Midwest, when it filed for bankruptcy in January.
Stores in Havre, Kalispell, Billings, Missoula, Butte and the one in Great Falls are expected to close over the next 10-12 weeks.
This marks the third closure in 7 months for stores across Great Falls. Kmart closed its doors in October. Their neighbor Big Bear Sporting Good shut its doors in March after North 40 purchased both the Kmart building and the sporting goods store.
The Holiday Village Mall has seen it's fair share of comings and goings of stores. In the last year Pet Smart and Hobby Lobby opened their doors, however, Subway is just one company that's left the mall in recent months.
