The first Griz commit from the Class of 2019 announced his intent to play for the football team Wednesday.
Fairfield's Ryder Meyer tweeted his decision out. He said "unbelievably excited to announce my commitment to the University of Montana. Go Griz!"
Ryder said at this past weekend's junior day Head Coach Bobby Hauck pulled him aside and said there was scholarship money available for him.
The safety helped Fairfield win a 2015 Class B State Championship and helped Fairfield reach the semifinals in his sophomore and junior seasons.
"It took a lot of hard work for sure," he said of getting to this point. "With the help of my teammates, family, coaches, and teachers (I was able to get here). They're the reason why I even have this opportunity. Everyone has been behind me and I'm just so grateful and blessed for all of them."
