Flooding preparations underway in Seeley

Posted: Updated:

Significant flooding for the Seeley Lake area is expected in the coming week and there are measures in place to help the public prepare.

The Missoula Disaster and Emergency Services has delivered sandbags to the Seeley Lake volunteer fire department station 1 and at the Missoula county satellite office north of Seeley.

They are available to the public on a first come first serve basis.

There are numerous locations around Seeley where local businesses have generously provided fill material for the bags.

John Richards Construction, I Know Jack LLC, Deer Creek Excavating, as well as Nature Scapes of Seeley, has kindly provided sand for public use.

The I Know Jack and Deer Creek, excavating pile is across the street from the Rent All on Redwood Lane just off highway 83.

Nature Scapes has also placed a pile in front of their business location on highway 83.

If you would like to have some delivered to where you need it, John Richards or Deer Creek are able to do that as well.

The fire department is also working with the Red Cross on establishing shelter for anyone who might become displaced due to the water levels.

We expect the Red Cross to deliver supplies at the beginning of the week. No location has been established yet but we will be sure to let you know when that is available.
