Hi-Line seeing minimal flooding due to snow melt

Posted: Updated:
GREAT FALLS -

This past winter the Hi-Line was slammed with harsh weather and it seemed the end was nowhere in sight. Now that spring is here they are getting some signs of relief. Compared to some parts of the state that are seeing major flooding the Hi-line is not.

Jimi Champ, who lives near the Cut Bank area  in Seville Flats told us that conditions have been " pretty green and beautiful." Champ said other that some of the rivers are looking a little swollen but no property are in harms way. Most of the snow is gone on some spots of the Hi-Line but in other parts thats not the case. A rancher in the East Glacier area said cooler nights have kept snow around. Night temps even reaching down into the mid-30s. East Glacier Golf course still has about 3 feet of snow. Champ said that for the most part they are prepared if flooding happens to come but its not the people they are worried about it's the livestock.

Champ said, "anybody that has horses or cattle in the bottom of river bottoms are moving them out its more preventative as far as animals and hoping for the best I think."

She added this is typical for this time of year and does not expect any flooding but it can't hurt to
