Man dies in custody over weekend

Posted: Updated:

Recently we received numerous reports of a 28-year-old man who died while in custody at the Bureau of Indian Affairs Correction Center on the Blackfeet Indian Reservation.

We spoke to the Glacier County Sheriff's Department, who told us the cause of death is still pending due to the autopsy.

The BIA headquarters confirmed Richard Bennett was arrested on alcohol charges on May 6th.

He was then taken to the hospital in Browning where he died.

Coroners will perform an autopsy at the Montana State Crime Lab in Missoula.

The case is being investigated by several agencies, including the FBI.

We reached out to the family who declined an interview, stating it is too hard to talk about right now.
