NeighborWorks of Great Falls and Great Falls Public Schools has teamed up in building a brand new home in our community, with most of the construction being done by the students.
This collaboration between GFPS and NeighborWorks has built 40 homes over the years. All in an effort to help give families in our community a roof over their head in areas normally not built in, as well as give real-world learning experiences to the students.
“It benefits us because you know we are building new homes in historic neighborhoods. Not a lot of new houses get built in that area so that’s why we do them in that area. But for the students I think it's important because it gets them out of the classroom,” said Katie Batterbee.
The house still has some final touches to be done by the students, but the open house is this coming Thursday the 17th at 4 p.m. All are invited to come and see the home.
The address is 2108 6th avenue south. You’ll be able to meet with NeighborWorks if you’re interested in the home, and also meet the students who built it from scratch.
