Torch of Hope arrives in Great Falls

Posted: Updated:

It was hard not to see the ear to ear smiles on the faces of athletes, volunteers, and Guardians of the Flame as the Torch of Hope completed its 2200 mile journey to reach Centene Stadium.

Im here to dedicate my time to the torch baby. I did the torch from Murdocks to Conoco and I feel like a champion. I can't wait to do that track and field Im so happy and excited, said Frank Zepelda.

Many athletes like Zepelda were Guardians and helped bring the flames here. Other Guardians of the Torch were law enforcement who helped bring the torch from 14 different locations across Montana.

For them, its a privileged to be a part of this.

This day has been coming for months now. It means something that youre doing something for somebody else. There is no greater feeling than bringing that smile to somebody's face, said Jon Marshall.

Some of the guardians aren
t from Montana either.

Wyoming, Michigan, Dallas, It definitely encompasses all 50 states,

With the Torch of Hope making its final stop in the Olympic Games host city Great Falls. The guardians told me their families grew a bit bigger today.

You make lifelong friends. Our family. Yes. We are one big family.

BELT- Each year two high school graduating seniors from Belt High School are each awarded a $1,500 scholarship, but it's the man behind the scholarship that makes it so unique.  "Matt had a zest for life.
