Two Helena Prerelease walkaways seized

Posted: Updated:

****UPDATE****

Two men who walked away from the Helena Prerelease Center have been apprehended. Police were looking for Coy Aaron Yarber, who was reported as a walkaway on August 5. He was arrested in Great Falls on August 8. Additionally, law enforcement officials around the state were on the lookout for Raymond Adams who was reported as a walkaway on August 2. He was arrested in Butte yesterday.

Prelease centers allow for recently incarcerated individuals to live and work in the community before in they're sentence is up. The ideas is to ease the transition of an offender from a correctional institution to living independently, but under watch in the community. Lieutenant Jayson Zander with the Helena Police Department says often inmates get a taste of freedom and decide they don't want to go back to the center.

Zander says it is now likely both Yarber and Adams will have to serve additional time for walking away. However, it is ultimately up to a judge to sentence both men.

Law enforcement officials in Helena are looking for a 22-year-old man who walked away from the Capital City's Pre-release Center on Sunday. However, this isn't the first inmate to slip out of the center.

In fact, two walkaways have been reported in Helena just in the last three days. Police are looking for Coy Aaron Yarber who walked away on Sunday.

However, another Helena inmate, Raymond Adams, also walked out last Friday. Yarber is serving a 20-year sentence out of Cascade County for several offenses. Those include: robbery, assault with a weapon and aggravated kidnapping. He's described as a five foot eight inch tall white male with brown hair and blue eyes.

Adams is serving time for arson and burglary charges. He is described as a five foot six inch Native American man with black hair and brown eyes.

Anyone with information on either inmate's whereabouts should contact the Helena Police Department.
