Candidate forum discusses healthcare in Montana

Posted: Updated:

A group of 15 local legislative candidates made their way to Great Falls College MSU today for a candidate forum hosted by Montana health votes, a nonpartisan group hoping to bring healthcare to the discussion table.

The questions ranged from how we should better integrate supplemental nutrition assistance programs  better known as snap into our community, to should we raise the legal age of buying tobacco, or even how can we better care for our elderly with assisted living versus nursing homes? The group who put on this forum says these are questions we should always be asking our legislatures and not just during campaign season.

Politicians make decisions every day that impact the health of our state and our Montanans. We do this as an opportunity to educate the public, but also the candidates about what are health priorities for the state of Montana, said Kristen Page Nei.

If you missed the forum, go out and speak to local legislators about what they are doing for healthcare in Montana. There will also be other forums similar to this across the state. The link to find those is here https://www.fightcancer.org/actions/health-votes-montana-%E2%80%93-2018
