Hurricane Florence's Impact Reaches Farther Than the Carolina's

Posted: Updated:

Hurricane Florence is not only impacting the Carolina's but causing people in Montana to walk on eggshells; as they wait to hear of their friends and families safety.

One such person is Cathie Blalock, whose family lives in North and South Carolina.

While her family has lived through plenty of hurricanes before, this one has them a little bit concerned; especially when it comes to having enough food and water.

In fact, one of Cathie's sons has actually had to fill his bathtub with water because he hasn’t been able to find it anywhere else.

But for Cathie, the storm itself is the least of her worries.

"It’s not just a short term thing. It’s not something that just affects them now, today, or for two days when it’s raining. It’s something that can impact them for weeks," said Cathie Blablock.

Another Great Falls community member feeling the effects of hurricane Florence is Nathaniel Arvin, who has an aunt and two brothers living in the Carolina's.

His family hasn’t been forced to evacuate, so instead, their preparing for the worst.

Their biggest concern isn’t over food and power, but more importantly, keeping their kids safe.

"I’m worried about them. I’ve seen the aftermath of what hurricane Hugo did to South Carolina, so I’m trying to keep positive. I talk to them as much as I can. Give them as much information as I can think of," said Nathaniel.

With high winds and relentless rain on the way, Nathaniel is worried about his family; calling several times to check up on them and make sure they are doing everything they can to stay safe.

Hurricane Florence is expected to touch land tonight.
