Applestem Corn Maze goes political with "Battle of the Flattops" theme

Posted: Updated:

Applestem Corn Maze has been offering family-friendly fall activities for 14 years, and this year they decided to get a little political, but its not a bad thing.

This year
s theme is Battle of the Flattops as incumbent Senator Jon Tester and opponent Matt Rosendale get ready to duke it out in this years general election. But why would a corn maze tackle this as their theme?

It sounded kind of neat and corny I guess is the best way to put it. I couldnt come up with a good idea or theme or anything and I saw battle of the flattops and I said well that sounds neat, said Scott Blackman.

So the crew got to work during planting season. But things started out rocky, as the battle of the flattops had to fight Mother Nature first.

The June rains in Augusta, all water runs downhill and the cornfield was flooded, underwater with the corn up, said Blackman.

Luckily things dried out and the corn maze could grow, so now with the maze ready, the Applestem crew is trying to get both Tester and Rosendale to come for a visit.

We are trying to get both of them we havent gotten a commitment yet from either and we are trying and whether they show or not, its going to be a fun time, said Blackman.

So Matt Rosendale, senator Jon tester, this is an open invitation to come duke it out in the battle of the flat tops corn maze, may the best man win.

The maze would also like to let everyone know they have new and improved family activities from duck races to better full-size foosball, and even a new concession stand which features a donut machine so you can get up close and personal and see how they make donuts.

They will be opening this weekend September 15th but do be prepared they could be closed due to weather concerns so be sure to check their Facebook page. They will be open all the way till the last weekend in October.

In 2017, over 100,000 acres of canola was grown in Montana, according to the United States Department of Agriculture. That may seem like nothing compared to the millions of acres we usually see of wheat, barley, and pulse crops.
