Lil' Frenchie in a frisbee

Filling our broken hearts with love.

After caring for our 17 year old blind poodle, Coco, he succumbed to a stroke. Our hearts were so unbearably broken, I thought we would never recover. He had been my "caretaker" after having had diabetes for thirty years and two kidney transplants. He always knew just where my neuropathy was hurting and seemed without fail to snuggle up on whatever was hurting. My legs, my stomach, my back, he just seemed able to pick the right spot without fail. For several months our home was lonely and without pets. I happened to read an ad for poodles in the paper and had a good excuse, Mother's Day, to go look. We spotted a tiny guy with reddish, chocolate hair and a sad little face. He immidiately snuggled up with me and my heart was gone. He came home with us that day. My daughter, who suffers from Cerebral Palsy, had no idea we were even going to go look at the dogs. I walked into the living room, sat down this little lump of fur and waited for the reaction. She said"Oh, that's cute." sort of blandly, thinking it was a stuffed toy. Then Frenchie moved! She scooped him up and started crying and lavishing him with love and kisses. She had no idea he was a real dog. He was so tiny, only one and a half pounds and just covered with little red and chocolate curls. He had us wrapped around his little paw in no time. Now, we still grieve for Coco and miss him terribly, but Frenchie is so curious and wonderous about everything. He makes us laugh all the time and fills our home and hearts with an overflowing abundance of love.
