Single Vehicle Crash Sends Montana City Woman to Hospital

Montana City - Montana City Volunteer firefighters were paged to a single-vehicle crash on Saddle Mountain Drive shortly after 9 pm Sunday night. Responders found the lone accident victim unconscious upon arrival at the scene.

She was not wearing a seatbelt and was pinned in the wreckage. Firefighters used a hydraulic spreader, commonly known as "jaws of life" to extricate to the victim, who regained consciousness during their efforts.

According to Montana Highway Patrolman, Conner Smith, speed was a factor in the accident in addition to the vehicle traveling too fast for conditions on the sanded, snow-packed road.

Emergency Medical Technicians from Eagle Ambulance worked with Montana City firefighters to stabilize and extricate the woman from the mangled wreckage, transferring her to a St. Peter's Hospital Advanced Life Support Ambulance for transport to the hospital in Helena for treatment of her injuries.

Jefferson County Sheriff's Deputy, Dave Kosola, assisted Patrolman Smith with gathering evidence at the scene.

The accident is under investigation.
