Montana City VFD will host the 2nd Annual St. Baldrick's Childhood Cancer Research Fundraiser on Saturday, March 21st in Montana City.
Would you like to take part in the world's largest fundraising event for childhood cancer research? On behalf of St. Baldrick's Foundation, Montana City Volunteer Fire Department seeks your participation in an event that could ultimately save a child's life.
What began as a challenge among friends has grown into the world's largest fundraising event for childhood cancer research.
Because these youngsters typically undergo treatment that causes their hair to fall out, volunteers are recruited to shave their heads in public as a bold act of solidarity. The volunteers receive pledges of financial support from friends and family. These generous donations help fund life-saving childhood cancer research.
Since its inception in 2000, St. Baldrick's has raised more than $50 million for the cause! At the 2008 event, Montana City & Clancy VFDs raised over $5600. This year our goal is $10,000.
Worldwide, 160,000 kids are diagnosed with cancer each year and despite tremendous
progress, cancer remains the #1 disease killer of children in the U.S. and Canada.
St. Baldrick's research grants help fill crucial funding gaps at medical institutions where children are treated for cancer, ensuring the finest care for every child. We hope you can join us as a shavee at Montana Fire Fighters & Friends Shaving For the Cure at
Montana City VFD on 3/21/2009.
Each shavee collects donations from their friends and family to support the cause. Believe it or not, people will give generously to see you sacrifice your lovely locks.
